About

scrumble, from Japan

scrumble is a digital web magazine from Japan. It begins with Japanese onomatopoeia — the sound words that give shape to feelings, places, and everyday life.

ドキドキ (doki doki). ふわふわ (fuwa fuwa). ざわざわ (zawa zawa).

These are more than words. They capture small moments and quiet emotions that are uniquely expressed in Japanese.

Onomatopoeia is our doorway into Japanese culture.

From there, scrumble grows into a collection of creative works — manga, picture books, novels, poems, music, and stories yet to come.

Our journey begins with Matope ONO and his everyday life in Japan, told through short four-panel manga and videos.

As scrumble grows, new creators, new characters, and new worlds will join the journey.

Welcome to “scrumble,”.
